Membership in the Occaneechi Band of the Saponi Nation shall be limited to those persons who
1. Are not enrolled members of any other state or federally recognized Tribe;
2. Are descendants of the Siouan communities historically found in the Virginia areas of what are now Brunswick and Greenville Counties and the adjacent sections of North Carolina who removed to what is now known as the Texas Community located primarily in the North Carolina Counties of Alamance and adjoining sections of Caswell and Orange;
3. Have at least one grandparent born in the Tribal area unless the applicant resides there; and
4. Maintain direct contact with the Tribal community.

- The application consists of four (4) pages. Please return the application only, not the instruction pages. Keep a copy of the application for your files.
- Print or type the application and family tree. If information is unknown, mark “unknown.” Incomplete applications will be returned and not processed.
- Applicants must submit a copy of their birth certificate.
- Please make sure that you sign and date the application.
- Enclose a check or money order for $75.00; the processing fee is non-refundable. Please make the check or money order to OBSN and mail it to PO Box 356 Mebane, NC 27302.
- Please do not send applications by express mail or signature request.
- Send only the documentation requested. If additional information is required, you will be contacted.
- If children are 16 or younger, their biological or legal custodial parent may submit their applications.
